Important Information

Warning - If your social security number is incomplete or missing from your student account with Lansing Community College, your 1098-T statement will generate; however it will not match with the IRS. Educational institutions must have your social security number to file certain returns with the IRS and furnish you with an accurate 1098-T form. If you are not eligible to have a social security number, your taxpayer identification number is sufficient. The return the college must file contains information regarding qualified tuition and related expenses that you may be eligible to claim and reduce federal income tax. Do not send this form to the IRS. Please fill out the IRS W-9S form and either return it to the Star Zone, or mail to:

How can I view my 1098-T from 2017?

Students that have electronically consented to electronic 1098T delivery in the TouchNet Student Account Center and qualify for a 2017 1098T will have direct access in the TouchNet Student Account Center.  Accessing the 1098T in the TouchNet Student Account Center is fast and easy.  Log in to myLCC, select Banner, then Student, select TouchNet Student Account Center, then I agree.  Once the TouchNet Student Account Center loads, select Statements, Action and View.  Please note you must have ADOBE installed on your computer to properly open the 1098T PDF.   

How can I view my 1098-T from 2015, 2016 and 2017?

We have partnered with Heartland ECSI to provide their robust support for IRS Form 1098-T, Tuition Statement, which furnishes part of the information you need to claim education tax benefits allowed by the American Opportunity and Lifetime Learning Tax Credits. For general questions related to Form 1098-T visit

Access your 1098T statements quickly and easily. Simply go to ECSI and search for the name of the school (Lansing Community College) and then enter the required fields and select continue.  Once your information has been authenticated, select Tax Documents & Information to view your 1098-T statement summary and history.

How can I view my 1098-T from 2014 or earlier?

Students have online access to their 1098-T form through Banner Self Service and are able to print the form if required.

  • Banner (link located at the top of the screen)

When will I receive my 1098-T?

  • All 2017 1098-T statements will be available for viewing and printing by January 31st, 2018.

Will I receive my 1098-T by mail?

  • Lansing Community College 1098-T tax forms will be in the mail by January 31, 2018. Please make sure your current address is up to date in Self-Service.

What if I have tax related questions about my 1098-T?

  • Students should refer all tax-related questions to their own tax counsel.  Students may get additional information from IRS Publication 970, Tax Benefits for Higher Education or visit the Internal Revenue Service website.

The 1098-T form reports the amount of qualified expenses a student was charged during the tax year, as well as, any scholarships or grants that the student received.  Click here to get answers to other 1098T Frequently Asked Questions.

Students whose qualified tuition amount exceeds the scholarships and/or grants may be eligible to qualify for a Hope Credit or a Lifetime Learning Credit, also referred to as education credits on an individual's Federal Income Tax return. Please note that this is based on when the activity occurred the account, not according to the term the activity is related to.
