LCC Radio is Working to Bring Back Your Favorites

LCC Radio LogoIn March of 2020, LCC Radio temporarily suspended regular programming and we have been running our daily AAA format on a 24-7 basis. Now, as our nation works towards returning to normal, we are working towards bringing back your favorite LCC Radio programs and we will be making announcements as they return. Visit us here at our website or check us out on Facebook and Twitter to keep posted on what shows are back. Below you will find a list of programs that have returned in a full or limited capacity.

AAA Music on 89.7 FM

AAA Music on LCC Radio 89.7FMOur Adult Album Alternative (AAA) format is for people who enjoy true variety in music. At a quick glance, AAA primarily walks the line between alternative and pop. However, LCC Radio's playlist spans decades and contains more genres than the average radio station. On any given day, you can hear blues, soul, rock, indie, electronica, country, hip hop, R&B, jazz, world beat and a lot more. Plus, as a part of our commitment to supporting the local music scene, we blend in a number of past and present musicians connected to Michigan.

Big Band Swing

Big Band Swing on WLNZEvery week Jim Stone's Big Band Swing takes listeners on a two hour journey back in time where "swing Is king" and when "big band" meant BIG BAND! As a huge fan of swing music and old time radio, Jim has literally archived 1000s of exclusive interviews, live recordings, and nostalgic radio and television moments. He shares this expansive collection with listeners every week alongside the likes of Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Woody Herman, Count Basie, Louis Prima, Billie Holiday, and Ella Fitzgerald. If it swings, it's on Big Band Swing!

Daebak Korean Radio

DaeBak Korean Radio logoK-pop as we know it today can be traced back to the early 90s, the term itself has been popularized since the 2000s. Although it generally refers to "popular music" within South Korea, the term is often used in a narrower sense to describe a modern form of South Korean pop that is influenced by styles and genres from around the world, such as experimental, jazz, hip hop, R&B, reggae, electronic dance, country, and classical on top of its traditional Korean music roots. Join host, Matt Zak for Daebak Korean Radio, an entire hour dedicated to the K-Pop genre.

Halcyon Radio

Halcyon Radio logoJoin DJ K8 as she takes you to the outer limits of the musical spectrum with Halcyon Radio. K8 got her start when her brother invited her to co-host a venue show in Florida called Scene Orlando Live. Eventually, she would take the live venue concept and bring it to the airwaves at WPRK in Orlando. In 2018, K8 moved to the Great Lakes State and brought Halcyon to Lansing.  DJ K8 describes her show as "an electronica drum and bass show that is lush and soulful, featuring a wide range of liquid tunes designed to make you get up, dance, and fall in love".

Mitten Mayhem Radio

Mitten Mayhem Radio logoWard Skillz takes listeners to the other side of midnight every Saturday with Mitten Mayhem Radio. Each week, the mayhem includes a two hour block party with one hour featuring old school hip hop cuts and the second hour steeped with hip hop and R&B that hails from "the mitten state" (a.k.a The Michigan). Not only will you hear top Michigan artists on the national level like Big Sean, Eminem, Neisha Neshae, and LaBritney, you'll also hear signed and unsigned artists from the Capital City too.

The Positive Vibe Sound System

Reggae has influenced the works of countless musicians and has become infused in everything from rock, country, to hip hop. The reggae spirit spans hundreds of years and The Positive Vibe Sound System keeps that spirit alive in Lansing. Local artist and host, Paul Vetne mixes ska, rocksteady, dub, Latin beat, Afro beat, and all points connected to the reggae sound.  As a local artist, Paul not only gives his heart to his show, but the Lansing community as well, all in the name of positivity.

Saturday Night with Mark B

Saturday Night with Mark B on 89.7FM!Saturday Night with Mark B is one of LCC Radio’s longest running programs. The show’s producer and host, Mark B has been spinning tunes for the station back when it was a low power FM available only on Lansing Community College’s downtown campus. Each week he plays a wide variety of music from the 70s, 80s & 90s. Mark often incorporates live trivia during his show on Facebook so you can play and listen at the same time. Grab your platform shoes, parachute pants, a flannel shirt and join the party every Saturday night!

Sunday Morning Jazz

Sunday Moring Jazz logoSince WLNZ’s earliest days, jazz has always been a part of our lineup. Born in the south with its origins based in blues and ragtime, this improvisational based musical art form has gone from underground roots to worldwide love and acceptance. Its growth has created a number of subgenres like straight ahead, bop, Latin, and smooth jazz. From the classics sounds of Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck, and John Coltrane to the latest cuts, you can get your week started on a blue note as they all come together on LCC Radio's Sunday Morning Jazz.

The Vinyl Side of Midnight

Vinyl Side of Midnight LogoThe Vinyl Side of Midnight is a jazz prgraom for and by the jazz fan. Since 1997, VSM host Mike Stratton has been a part of the WLNZ team. His dedication to the program has garnished him an international following, national syndication, and several awards. As jazz is an experimental art form, so is The Vinyl Side of Midnight, exploring all avenues of jazz as well as its influence in rock 'n' roll, hip hop, funk, soul, and more. You'll also catch exclusive interviews with members of local and regional jazz scene.
