What is the difference between a teleconference and a video conference?

A teleconference involves the reception of a video/audio signal via satellite and interaction via phone, fax or e-mail. This technology enables people on the receiving end to see and hear the program but the origination site will not be able to see them.

A videoconference is a more fully interactive technology. Sites will typically connect over T-1 phone lines and they will be able to see and hear each other. Both facilities are typically outfitted with cameras, microphones and monitors to provide two-way visual and audio interaction.

LCC has facilities that will accommodate either technology.

Can I utilize the ITV classrooms for other functions?

How do I make arrangements for a teleconference or videoconference?

Contact Marc Smyth at (517) 483-1674 or msmyth@lcc.eduand he will guide you through the process. He and his staff will make the necessary arrangements for the facility and staffing and make all of the necessary technical arrangements to make your event a success.
